Swiss Army Knives

Modeps

Lifer
My dad has been carrying a swiss army knife for as long as I can remember... it's held up the test of time and he is always using it for little things here and there. I've got a crappy 5 function one that I got back when I was in boy scouts (YEARS ago) that I only recently started carrying around with me and using... I beat it up pretty bad when I was a kid, scratching my name into it, trying to resharpen the blade badly (it's very ugly right now)... etc. But around my new house, there are SO many uses for it... Do any of you have one and do you use it? I'm considering getting a new one with a led light in it... or maybe the "Cyber Tool" one found on their website.

I had a little Henckel one on my keychain until it was confiscated at the airport...

Currently, the only knife I use is my lockblade I carry on my duty belt when I am on duty as an ambulance driver....

the one i have is keychain size. if I have my keys, I have the knife.

it has

red led
screwdriver
scissor
pen

you have no idea how good it is when I need a pen and I don't actually realize I have a pen with me until 5 to 10 seconds later while looking for one. 😀

I have the one with the LED and Pen in it. I cant say how often that pen has come into handy "Anybody got something to write with?"

I carry a knife .. that's all I need.

I've had "swiss army" style knives in the past. Too bulky, IMO.

Some of the new ones looks pretty nice, though.

we probably got the same one 😀
it is even cooler when the case is transparent blue, which is the SAME with my usb flashdrive.

i have carried a swiss army knife from when i was 11 when my grandfather baught me one until i was 24. I then got a really nice leatherman.

I have one but rarely use it, if ever. I have a mini leatherman on my keychain which comes in quite handy. But I do love Victorinox, when I was in Alaska fishing I had one strapped on at all times. I have actually never seen a sharper knife than those little ones.

I was thinking about a leatherman, but I like not having my pockets weighted down.

I've been carrying them for years, too. My current one I've managed to hold onto for about 10 years, and I use it all the time. I couldn't live without it. It's stood up to some pretty heavy abuse, too. I don't bother with Leatherman's - too bulky.

I have a leatherman S2. I've had a few Swiss Army Knifes, but every one I've ever had has had the plastic side panels fall off (the red plastic part) after a few years of heavy use. The actual functional part has never fallen apart.

The S2 is not particularly bulky and is very handy when you need pliers I probably don't consider it bulky because I carry so much stuff in my pockets.
Left Pocket:
- Key chain w/ 8 keys and a (very small) whistle
- Cell phone
Right Pocket:
- Leatherman
- Mini Maglite
- Comb
- Lighter
- Chapstick
- Pen
Back pocket:
- Wallet

I carried a wenger knife for years but last year I traded it in for a leatherman wave (after getting my new wenger confiscated at the airport). I had no idea the number of uses I would have for the pliers on the leatherman, I can't express how much more I value the leatherman over my old wenger knives.
