As the title says, my mirror has cracked and the case fell out of its housing:

Now then: a) What parts do I need to fix this?
b) Where's a cheap place to find a replacement for it? Would an auto store have what I need or should I order it online?
c) Is it an easy fix to do? If need be, I don't really need the mechanical portion of the mirror and a manually adjustable one would do.

I've seen a few of these before. Call up the dealership and order the mirror assembly.

Auto parts store won't have that plastic part. Maybe the glass, if you're lucky.

Junkyard, ebay, find someone parting a car like yours out (on a forum maybe), car-part.com, etc. Dealer as a last resort, although you will pay $$$ for a new mirror from them, and you'd still have to have it painted. I don't know if you can simply replace that inner plastic by itself.

The dealer will see you just the plastic backing and mirror assembly. I've gotten them for everything from a Porsche Cayenne to Mercedes E class to Toyota Sienna.

Problem with junkyards is they tend to sell only the entire side mirror, factor in shipping since it wont be in stock nearby and the price comes out close if not higher than dealers (though I admit I worked at a dealer and dealers have wholesale prices for other dealers so I usually got like 15%-25% depending on which make the dealer I was dealing with)

If you do want to search junkyards though, search direct, through http://car-part.com/ It takes a lot of the searching out.

A forum takes a long time to find a specific part I would think, I hadn't thought of it but it could be a good idea.

What year/make/model is your car?

Make sure the mount/electric adjusting assembly isn't damaged - use the console switches to see if it tilts/doesn't make any weird noises. Also see if any plastic parts are broken - you may not be able to mount the mirror.

My dad destroyed the right mirror pulling into the garage on an odyssey. I found a mirror alone like this:

for ~$20. All I had to do was pry out the old one and press the new one in. I thought I was going to break it putting the new one in but you need to use quite a bit of force.

Scrap yard or dealership parts department are your best bets for getting a replacement quickly. You might try e-bay as well.

Auto parts store won't carry model specific mirrors.

that would help. i worked for a volvo dealer, and the mirror came in many parts. the glass alone was about a hundred bucks.

a mirror for a chevy parts van, however, is like $75 for the whole damned assembly.

ebay or car-part.com

I actually had the same happen to me last summer (albeit with a traffic cone). Cost ~50 bucks for a new mirror housing and autodim/heated mirror.

Replacing the whole assembly is easy - probably a 1 hour job (I did it myself last weekend after clipping an orange road barrel).

The entire mirror assembly cost me $55 from Autozone.

That's the way I'd go rather than trolling junkyards.

Awesome, I need the exact same thing for my accord and was wondering where the hell I could get just the glass.
