I just mounted a Swiftie MC370 on my 1.4 ghz Tbird. I followed the instructions that I printed out from Swiftechs' site, but, having never owned one before, am unsure as if it is on correctly or not.
Should one be able to "wiggle" the hs/fan combo after mounting? I "unscrewed" the screws per the instructions & don't want them loose.
Suggestions? Comments?

Basically you need to place the heatsink clips under the CPU clip and gently undo the screws. This will gently push the heatsink onto the CPU.

You do not want the whole unit to wiggle at all as that would mean that it is not properly seated. Adjust the screws a bit so that it is tightly seated, but be careful as to not go to far. The springs allow for some leniency, so use good judgement. You could always pick up a CPU spacer if you are worried and don't have one already. Good Luck!

yeah, it can wiggle a little. if you are really worried, put thermal compound on the cpu, mount the heatsink, and then take it off (making sure you don't move the heatsink around too much). if there is a nice rectangle of thermal compound on the bottom of the heatsink then don't worry about the wigglage, as you are getting good contant. as long as you are getting good contant then you fine. if not, try tightening each side little by little, and try the contact test again.

[edit: believe me, i've installed several of these things. as long as you are getting good contact (ie, there is a nice rectangle of thermal compound on the bottom of the heatsink) you have nothing to worry about. a little bit of wiggle is normal with most heatsinks, including the MCX-370 and the MC-370. usually, the only ones that don't wiggle a little are the ones that use all three tabs on the socket, or that screw directly into the motherboard.]
