Wow, no one bumped this? Well up you go for a good local deal. (Just make sure you buy a new hsf and not a return)

I guess I'll bump it too. I don't know if it is a good deal, but the HS just looks cool

For thoseof you thinking about this -- I used one of these and went back to the stock fan (I actaully got a 11C difference) but I was unable to get the XP chip 1MHz faster even though it was 11C cooler. Just a thought. For peace of mind this can't be beat.

Maybe it just goes to show that spending $60 for a fan is a little stooopid...;)

This is not just the fan, it includes heatsink and fan. The heatsink is the best you can buy that I know of, better than the original two MC462 designs and better than the Alpha 8045. The fan by itself costs about $20 minimum.

well...I will stick to paying $30 for the 8045 HSF. Thats just toooooo much money. There is a volcano 7 HSF (another 80 mm) you can get for $18. Both of those can be found at http://svcompucycle.com/:cool:

The 8045 is about on par with the Swiftech.. depending on what review you read the results are the same, or the Swiftech has a 1-2C edge over the 8045. However, the 8045 is by no means "cheap", it's a very precisely made HS, it performs great even with low cfm fans (don't know how the Swiftech handles that) and it is actually reasonable... $30-$35. I think www.svcompucycle has it for ~$30 (without fan), www.newegg.com has it for $35 (without fan). Again, it performs very very well with a standard 80mm case fan, you do NOT need to put a delta screamer on it to work well.
Cools my XP at 1.60 GHz very nicely with just a 28cfm Antec fan on it.

I'd rather spend that $60 to buy a faster CPU.
I bought a combo 766 Celeron and a MB with sound for $60 couple months ago.
