oh BTW:
both coolers will fit on an IC7 that is equiped with a large TT T1 or a Swiftech MCX159 northbridge cooler.

ASC over AS3, never tried AS5.

i really like ASC tho.
single small "blob" install (no spreading around needed)
easy cleanups with only a paper towel (no liquid chemicles needed)

:)

im gonna re-test both coolers on a second CPU. (P4 2.4b @ 189+FSB)

ill post the results when testing is completed :)

yeah my sp-94 rocks
swiftech just can't compete with that big crazy sucker
especially if you outfit it with a high power 90mm fan

also i had to dremel off about 1/4" off my otes cooling system to fit the heatsink on my ic7-max3 but this was only because my cpu didn't have an IHS on it so the heatsink sat a little lower

nice "mini review" you got there

thanks

NIce...

What is your speculation as to why the pwm temp went down??? Does the sp94 fan blow off or onto hsf??? The one thing about the swiftech is that it blows the heat in all directions...towards the NB...towards the ram in slot 1...towards the pwm...

Does the sp94 have a better profile when sitting as to allow better airflow to the pwm which many say on the abit IC7 is the voltage regulators....

I think I amy get one since come this summer I would like a possible 5c cushion....

My much better case cooling has help keep my pwm temps down as I never see 40c anymore....

I think I could use a nice NB cooler though...Any suggestions???

yes, the sp-94 has a very clear shot at cooling the mosfets and its own heatpipes with a 92mm fan.
the heatsink itself is 93mm wide and about 50mm deep, leaving plenty of overhang on 2 sides.
the air is directed and channeled down past all its fins with the sp-94.
on the mcx4000 air just slams into the base and gets deflected in all directions, onto other componants.

i just finished testing using a second CPU that OCs a bit further then the first.
results are consistant with the first chip, but higher due to the extra 150mhz.
interesting what 150mhz can do to temps on the same voltage eh?
case and PWM temps are again down when using the sp-94.

i posted the results but im still working on if this chip gets any extra OCing from the sp-94 cooler.....

im using a ThermalTake Tiger1 NB HSF.

:)

I thought it was already common knowledge that the SP-94 was better than the MCX4000?
But anyhoo, nice to see you joined the Thermalright club, Thugs :)

yes, of course we already knew the sp-94 is supposed to be better or i wouldnt have bothered trying one ;)

i just wanted to post my results to show exactly HOW good it is from a users point of view.

Nice results... :) I was looking into another HS myself. THUGS, does the SP-94 cause any mobo warping, or does the backplate eliminate that well enough? The MCX-4000 caused my IC7-G to not boot anymore when installed. I guess I ran it too much without being in a case. The only way it will boot is to just lay a Zalman 7000Cu (no retention) on the processor. The weight actually kept it cool enough. :Q

the sp-94 uses some serious pressure on the cpu. more then the swiftech.
the board will creek a little on the initial install, but the backplate keeps everything in check.

i dont suggest using either of these coolers on an unmounted moboard for to long.

That's what I've been saying forever now ;) I still prefer the CoolerMaster premium because once you get the application technique perfected it cools great and won't ever cause the adhesion effect.

well, it took quite a bit of work ~ but ive finally gotten this 2.6c where i want it :D
max temps are now 56*C with the Thermalright SP-94.

CPUz 3420mhz, 263fsb, 421ddr, c2622

Good for you! How much Vcore did you have to apply to get it stable at 3.42GHz? And are those idle or load temps?

its 1.6v bios, shows as 1.584v in CPUz (idle)
all temps mentioned in this thread are full load (p95) max temps.

:)

when you say it took quite a bit of work to get the speed you wanted, what exactly are you referring to?

Did you get new memory?
