my temps have shot up lately. my room temps are cool and as a result so are my cpu temps. i am averaging 27C at idle and 35C at load. recently they shot back up to 35C at idle and 40C at load. so basically i had to put my tower case on it's side and open up the side panel. do you think my heatsink needs to be reseated? i am using arctic silver 2. do i need to reapply? by the way i have a p4 1.6a overclocked to 2.1 🙂

I dont think you should be complaining at 40 C at full load. I have a ST MCX4000 and i get like 55 full load. My room temp is 72 F. I idle at 43-44 C. Maybe I put on the Artic Silver wrong or something but I doubt it. I put a very thin layer over the CPU. What fan do you use? And is there a gap between your MCx4000 and your HS Fan?

i also have a swiftech mcx4000
i have my p4 2.4 c1 @ 2.843
using artic silver 3
using the thermal take smart fan 2
but only running it at half speed so apporx 37cfm @ 4000rpm
it's get's a bit load running at full speed and 75cfm 🙂
my temps under idle is around 36-37C and about 44-45C at full load running prime95
mesured using asus probe
don't know if these are good temps or too high?

Are your ambient temps rising? If so, then that's the issue. But again, like previous posters said, you shouldn't worry about your temps. Those are great compared to even the stock HSFs.
