Hello all... sometimes i don't feel that my swiftech mcx370 is cooling as well as it should. That, or my room is just too hot. Through Mobo Monitor, it reports the Temperature at Idle to be around 55 celc. At load (using hot cpu tester), i get around... 60 celc max. MBM reports 2 other temps to be 35 and 38 celc, which i assume to be ambient and mobo temp, respectively. (My mobo is an MSI K7N2G). So this would make the HSF getting temps of +17-20. With a AMD XP 1800+ chip (not tbred), is this about right? I'm not OCing or anything.

Input is appreciated.

Thanks!

yeah, the MCX370 isn't up to th newest chips, but that seems a bit hot even so. what fan are you using on the sink? those ambient temps also seem high.

yeah my ambient temps are a bit high... cuz my room is a bit above average on the warmness side. I don't exactly know the brand of the fan i have on it.. but its one of the big ones... 60x60x38mm... i dont think its delta though... just cuz it doesnt scream, that much.

i have same heatsink (well before the "X" was introduced...i think that jst make the pins different..like isntead of flat, have horizontal grooves...i dont remember exact term they used...)

the fan is a pabst

its keeping my xp1700+ tbred b @37-42C idle (depending on room temp)
and liek 45-47 load (dependin on room temp again)

this is on a7n8x, 1.7vcore (although thx to asus its 1.74)

yep. i have as2, and i applied as such.

how tightly are you supposed to tighten the screws on the mcx? My screws are as tight as they will turn, without forcing them (i.e. they cant turn if applied gentle force)

Thought you were supposed to LOOSEN the screws and let the springs hold the hsf to the proc!?!?!?!?
