i'm thinking of purchasing swiftech h20-220 kit. i could probably do better if i buy parts individually but this kit seems to have top notch parts and save myself the hassle. my goal is to have a silent computer with the ability to do medium overclocking, say push a 6300 to 3.4Ghz silently.

also ordering MCW30 (northbridge water block)
MCW60 (gpu water block)

are both fans needed?

will two 120mm fans undervolted to 5V be enough? i'm thinking nexus

do i need purchase additional tubing, clamps for MCW30 and MCW60 blocks?
 
You're adding two more blocks to that?

You would definitely need more tubing and clamps for the blocks, and 5V undervolted fans have no chance. What's the rig, and do you intend to keep this loop for multiple builds?
 
i'm a noobie in w/c. i would like to cool the chipset, vga and cpu. this kit will not handle that? my rig:

C2D e6300
Gigabyte DS3 3.3
Antec P182B
Corsair HX-520
4x1GB OCZ (soon 4x2GB patriots)
Gigabyte 7600 GT Silent Pipe II (passive cooled)


I'm running at 3.0Ghz now and doing so with 3x 120mm fans at low RPM with a big typhoon. I want to OC a little more but I don't want the noise. I'm waiting for quads to drop about $100 and then i will buy one. I don't play the heavy 3D games so I don't think I'll be upgrading my video card any time soon unless StarCraft II requires a better card. Basically, I run 2-3 VMWare machines to emulate 2003 servers with databases, IIS, etc for development. My box is fairly quiet and I hope w/c will make it completely silent except maybe 1 exhaust fan.

maybe w/cing isn't for me. i thought w/cing cools your system as good as the best air coolers at low fan speeds or even passively (zalman reserator). the quiet factor is what's drawing me more than anything.

 
I think you'll be fine, don't expect fantastic temps with the added blocks but that should cool your system nicely though I don't think you'll be able to slow the fans down much.

Last I heard 3.4 0n a 6300 was a hella OC, am I mistaken?

I've had it to 3.3 (unstable) but I think it was the HOT northbridge preventing stability. the big typhoon overhangs the northbridge so not much i can do. not sure if i can make to 3.4 but this is just a stopgap while i wait for quads to drop a little.
 
I'm basically using that kit with a Swiftech chipset block and gpu block right now with this rig.. All the water blocks have been lapped as has the e6600 IHS.

The e6600 runs 24 hours Orthos stable (small FTEs) @ 3460Mhz with the rad fans running at 7 volts. I also have the 7900GT @ 585Mhz and the vid memory @ 1800.

Edit: BTW, I bought my kit from Jab-tech. I highly recommend them!
 
i'm lucky, getting H20-220 Apex? Ultra+ kit for $194 shipped from ebay! this includes cpu, vga and chipset water block. it was a review kit for one of the online hardware sites. all i have to do is buy tubing. i'm stoked!
 
That's a sweet deal. Just make sure you flush and clean everything really well before you set up your loop.
