Swiftech 462

I recently purchased a Swiftech 462 heatsink/fan combo. After installing it, I turned my computer on and the fan runs for maybe 5 seconds, then shuts off. The PC still runs but the fan completely stops. Any thoughts on why this is happening???

The only thing I can think of is that the motherboard doesn't think there's a fan plugged in to the CPU fan header and the PC is shutting down as a precautionary measure. Is the fan plugged in to the motherboard or directly to the power supply?

He said the fan is shutting off, not the PC.

My guess would be that you have it plugged into the motherboard and it's drawing too much current causing the header to shutdown (or it may already be blown). If that is where you have it plugged in, connect it directly to your powersupply. (either swap the fan for one that has a 4-pin connector or get an adapter)
