SWG + 6800GT

When I play SWG(Star Wars Galaxies) with my 6800GT, I hear a ticking sound pretty much every time I open an inventory window. Sometimes I will hear it while it is rendering a particularly intense sceene. It doesn't happen in CSS which is the only other graphically intensive program I use anymore. The temps in SWG never hit over 80*C, and CSS will actually get it up to 85*C or 88*C, which is rather hot, but I'm using the 71.84 Betas(haven't gone to the WHQLs) and haven't over clocked the card any to get proper readings from it.

I was wondering if anyone had any idea of what might be causing the ticking, and how bad it might be for the system. GeForceTony thought he remembered seeing something in nVidia's known issues about the game, but we both just looked and didn't see anything. GFT thinks it might be something of a driver issue/bad coding on Sony's side, that is producing the sound through my subwoofer(it comes from under my desk, I'm going to try it without the speakers after I get done with school).

Thanks in advance for any insight.

The ticking sound is definatly from the tower. When I unplug the speakers the sound does not stop. What's goin on with this sucker?

[edit]I wrote the exact opposite of what I ment. It goes to show how much I'm paying attention after 14 hours of work+school.

Perhaps loading the inventory screen from the HD? If it is not coming from a speaker, a sound like that has to be mechanical. Fans, HDDs, optical units and such.

Do you mind sharing your process of how you narrowed it down to the videocard?

Because when I had my GeForce 4 Ti 4800SE, there was no ticking sound. The only thing I have changed on my system is the video card. Therefore logically it must be the video card. I might be wrong, but it seems logical to me.

i also would like an explanation to a squeaky sound that comes from my computer when i play some games, splinter cell in particular. when not using night vision or heat vision, theres a squeaky noise, and im pretty sure its my graphics card doing this, i put my ear next to it and it seems so
