I have the SWEN worm - I get over 100 of these e-mails each day. I have not downloaded anything, but I would like to stop getting these e-mails - how can I stop them???

The patches and other things made available only clean your system, if you have the virus downloaded. I have not downloaded anything, I would just like to stop getting these e-mails - please help!!!

Thanks,
Dan

most of the time when you get e-mail virus's it's becuase your e-mail addy is on someones address book (unfortunatly including spammers), and they have contracted the virus. get everyone you know to do a thorough virus scan on thier machines. that's about all you can do.

If you are sure you don't have the virus then you could get popfile, and just train it to weed those out for right now. That would at least save you the trouble of looking at them

I have the messages (most of them) going into my Yahoo! Trash folder, but they don't automatically delete completely, until I remove them.

How can I just send them away forever, automatically?

Thanks,
Dan

With a normal yahoo account, unless it is the same sender each time, then I don't think you can. But i am not to familiar with yahoo mail.

Well, most of the Subjects are the same, so I can send them to the Trash, but I still have to delete them and until then, my mailbox is over full, until I empty my trash.

Thanks,
Dan

If you are using normal Yahoo Mail.... The messages are actually on the Yahoo servers. Unless you do something to allow you to access them offline. (That is why you have a space limit for emails. They only have a finite amount of space to use.)

So you can rest a little better. However, I would try and contact Yahoo and let them know those emails are there. They might be infected. And if not, any admin worth his salt is gonna do what he can to stop the flow of those infected mails. (It might not be much, depending on the companies policy, but it is worth a shot.)

Not sure about how Yahoo filters are, but if you can without deleting useful emails, set it to delete all emails not addressed to you. Swen emails don't have your email address in the "To" field. I'm testing it out with my Hotmail account now, but sending the emails to a test folder for the time being...just to make sure none of my useful emails get dumped.

Edit: I should point out that some legit services send you emails without your address appearing in the To field. You'll want to make sure this won't be a problem before applying this filter. BTW, I just checked my mail and it's working so far...

If you had MSN you could set custom filters to block out the title or certain words in the title....
