Got the final 2 NIC's installed today (took a sick day to cut up a tree that got blown over last night in an awesome storm last night)

Got the tree cut up, & installed the cards...

Now how to re-install the corrupted CD drivers into my wife's machine:( sort of stuck on that one, tempted to do the dreaded fdisk repair.

I'm kinda on the fence about going wireless. I like not having to worry about WEP and extra security. I already have drops throughout the house anyway. Love the 100Mbit transfers.

Will be giving away my router come Sept so it'd be a good time to go wireless... HMMMMM....

Think MSFT will sell their G package for dirt cheap ? Are they really getting out of that business ?

Yeah, MSFT stuff is "clearancing" here and there, but I haven't been lucky enough to find some cheap G parts. I'm still all B right now.

Where'd you get your MSFT G equipment, and how much did you pay?? Is there a Hot Deal on this?? I missed out on all the 802.11b deals at Target etc. earlier.

The Microsoft MN-700 802.11g wireless router is only $39 out the door at your local CostCo. No rebate hassles.

It's also on clearance at most BB, CC and OM B&M stores.

Doing a remote install/repair using my CD drive, this ought to be interesting. Nice network speeds though:D

Don't need to deal with WEP if you turn on access control.

Heh, I set up the MN700 and MN710 last night. (Router + wireless USB adapter) My network was now twice as slow than my old MN500 + Speedstream adapter combo. I did a couple file transfers and everything took at least twice as slow to transfer. Needless to say all the equipment is now packed up and being RMA'ed back to the respective vendors.

i ordered the b netgear from amazon that was in hotdeals. but i did buy one of those ms g cards too, can't beat that price:) b only for laptops and stuff, and at 200 foot range or whatever, its not going to be a security risk at all:)

how important is it to keep the same brand between wireless router and pc card ?
