Check out this sweet song I just got from my friend by 65daysofstatic

it has some pretty sweet time signatures, starts and stops, and is just an intense song overall, I really enjoy it...hope you guys do too

It is definitely a genre in and of itself but the term I guess doesn't seem to do it any kind of justice, with the music focusing on melody and the songs tend to be instrumental. Mogwai, Sigur Ros, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Explosions in the Sky are some of the bigger names of post rock, with bunches of good bands out there.

IMO, the song is only mildly reminiscent of those two bands. I think it's more like Porcupine Tree or OSI without the vocals, or Liquid Tension Experiment, all of which I like.

I suppose you are right....I do not have a large collection of either those 2 bands, however have heard nothing but good things about them
