Comcast bought out our local cable company, which was really slow. I was getting max 60KB/s downloads. I guess they just flipped a switch today because I downloaded a file and I got 178KB/s. edit: now getting 1100 kb/s. Wheee! 😀

wonder how much faster it will get.
 
wow! downloaded 5 800MB files from easynews, and ALL all them are downloading at 180KB/s. previously my max downloaded speed would be split among those five files. Man, this rocks!
 
I've had Verizon DSL for years now, still running at 786/128. We live about 30 minutes from DC, I think we just recently got 1.5/384 available here. Kind of annoying. We decided not to upgrade due to extra cost and a quoted downtime of 1 week+ while they make the switch. They're lucky there's such a large difference in rates from Comcast or they'd have no business at all.
 
At my apartment, I've got Mediacom cable, which is 5mbps down and 256kb up, it's pretty decent, wish it was faster however.

Max I've downloaded on it was 580K's a second.

At my parents house we have a ****** wireless provider. It's $44.95 and we get 1mb/1mb... I guess it's not all that bad since I run my server off of it and 1mb up is pretty nice, but I'd rather have faster download speeds...

My connection is 10MB Down/1MB up - should be switching to 15MB in a few weeks.I can usually download around 800k/sec. right now.

yeah. 🙁 just got a notice in the mail yesterday that said the rates were going up.

speeds are getting faster by the minute. Up to about 600 kb/s now.
