sweet idea if it doesn't already exist

is there a digital camera that, instead of have a CF or SD memory slot, has a USB port that can save the pictures directly to a USB memory keychain?

I think it would be cool if digital cameras had a usb port built into them as well as flash memory etc, so if you ran out of room you could hook up a usb memory stick and take pictures to that, or a pda or ipod or something.

And the point of using a USB memory is???

you can quickly and easily pull the USB memory from the camera and insert it into any computer.
no accessory card reader
no driver that some card readers require

Nikkor, Cannon, Sorny, and Magnavox have poured millions of dollars into their research and if it was a good idea, they would have incorporated it into their cameras.

I'm sure there's a * to USB converter out there.

A better version of this idea would be to have internal memory / Smart Media / Sony stick storage like some digital camera out there, and have a usb port where you can transfer all photos to the USB keydrive just to empty out the memory content.

This way you just need to stick the drive in there only once in a while.

There're less and less incentive to do that though. Most digital camera offers a convenient way to transfer pictures to computer, and prices for small solid state storage are getting cheaper.

I think I filled up my 128mb memory card just once (on a week long vacation).

I took me 20 seconds to change cards.

Do I get a cookie?

Another idea. Have your camera have both some sort of flash media, memory sticks, whatever, but also include a built in bluetooth chip. Then in your pocket carry some sort of portable hd (be it a pda, ipod, specially designed one for the camera, etc.) with a bluetooth chip also. The camera can take the pictures to the memory card, and in the background transfer them to the hd and delete them from the memory card when done. This way you do not have to wait for the transfer to complete (assuming bluetooth's transfer speed is slow, but I don't know much about it) before you can take more pictures. I'm not sure if it would work (also not sure on the transfer distance, so that might be a problem), but it would be cool to have.

actually, today at work, I had an idea, that people should make pants that doesnt let the fart get out. I was passing gas all day at work, and I thought that if there was a way to trap your gas, or maybe a way to purify it on it's way out...that would be so awesome..

people would buy it, I bet.

And also some sort of absorbant khackis, so when you don't jiggle long enough and get a drop or two on there it won't show up.

There are adapters like that out already. You have a little battery powered box with 2 USB ports, on for the camera, the other for whatever you want to download to (mp3 player, USB flash, USB hard drive) and just push a button. Belkin makes one specifically for the iPod. The only problem is that they are slow, so much faster just to take the card out and use a normal reader or PSD device like a Tripper or X-Drive.

If it's a bad idea, why do several MP3 players do this already? It's actually not a bad idea.
