Sweet, first time playing poker online and I'm $20 down.

Sad thing is I'm gonna try another $20 this Saturday when I get paid 😛 I was $12 up after the first hand but I wanted to keep playing because it was just the first hand and my first time playing poker for real $$$ online. Ah well, it could have been worse 😛 Guy I know had to pay out $2900 to partypoker when he kept trying to win his money back.

minendo: yes, parents let me use their checking acct 😛 did learn one thing: low limit sucks ass. people call on nothing and get lucky.

Did your parents sign off on it since you are a minor?

I think it was more like 2 hours 😉 I was getting sh!tty luck when playing for real $$ tho, I would get pocket kings and raise, the flop would be AAQ. So thats pretty much how I lost the money, crappy luck.

yes, its under their name, you have to be 18 just to sign up for firepay.

I'm debating creating an account at partypoker.com right now, since my faith in pokerroom.com is going down (their servers have been flaky recently).

It'll be my first time playing for real money online, so I think I may read a few books on low-limit first (all we play in home games is no limit, low stakes though).

Yep, low limit hold'em is where people call you're bluff 9 times out of 10, and half the table will stay to the River...

I've been winning, small amounts, lately. I don't come in on junk, and wait for a decent hand, and then slam em. 😀

I hope you don't play that way in no-limit. you'd get grounded down in short order.

But yeah..I find myself turning into a rock with low-limit.

if you play low limit, play really really tight and don't be blinded by pocket aces, pocket kings. If you see a possible flush straight draw for somebody else, muck them.

I heard that partypoker is too popular and often people go on together and collude. you might want to try out the other possibilities, ie paradise poker, ultimatebet, etc....

Haven't tried No-Limit yet. I know it's a completely different game.

I play @ pokerstars.(they are the site that sent Moneymaker to the WSOP) Unfortunatley the first 9 player tourny I played in I won so now Im addicted.

I try to stay out of money games and just play in 9 and 18 player sit-n-go tournys. This way everyone starts with 1500 and the bad players who call anything usually get weeded out and with the blinds constantly going up then games usually last an hour to completion.

Anyone want to refer me to pokerstars.com? I'm going to give some of their tournaments a try but don't know if anyone here might get a referral bonus if they refer me. PM me if you want.

I do the same thing...I like the 9 player tournaments...not impossible to win, and it doesn't cost much to play for an hour or 2.

I third that notion. I like pokerstars too. They've got lots of tourneys. For the beginners, try the freerolls. Its free and if you're lucky, you can win real money. Once you're addicted, then you can put in money like the rest of us. LOL I've played enough to get a free book from them with my Frequent player points. W00T!
