I need a new CD reader, what are the best models?

I had an Asus 50x, and it had the annoying habit of freezing Windows when it spun up...

I'd recommend a DVD drive - not much more expensive, and CDs are getting old anyways..

Asus cd-roms are nice. I got a 52x a while back and it's pretty quiet.

Sony, better performance, only $2-3 difference
Asus, expensive, i have no idea what i'll get with $10 difference.

Yeah. Why not get something that'll read CD's AND play DVD movies? If you've got your heart set on a CD-ROM drive though, ASUS have always been great for me.
