Sweet bonus money...

So we have this program called the Guard Recruiting Assistant Program (GRAP). Every enlisted soldier can sign up for this program and you can get $2000 for recruiting someone into the Guard. $7500 for recruiting officers. All you have to do is nominate them in their online database before they sign a contract and BAM, $1000 45 days from contract signing and another $1000 45 days after shipping to Basic. I just got my first $2000 direct deposited to my account.

Now, the dumb thing is that accountability is very low with this program and you could just find people who are about to sign up, throw their info in the program and reap the rewards. The only catch is that they'd have to give you their SSN. I've known GRAPers who have given the recruit part of their bonus money to sweeten the deal, though. It IS against the rules, but how the hell would they find out? Oh well.

All I know is I'm 2k richer. FTW!

So... you're cheating a system to take advantage of people joining the National Guard? You're so cool.

Whoa now... I said this is possible, not that I did it. I just got the bonus from a friend of mine who came to me about joining the Guard. I was simply stating the the Guard is kind of stupid for the lack of accountability. It's unfortunate, but it's how they set it up.

Hence Topic Summary: "National Guard is stupid... oh well"

Apologies, misread what you said.

No prob. I've met several fellow soldiers who have taken advantage of the system, and it infuriates me to no end.

Maybe I sign up and we split the first $1k fiddy fiddy then I bail?

Haha... yeah, apparently this is another loophole, because they fail to take into account that many recruits do not ship right after they sign.

Military code hopefully will prevent them from misusing the program.

What... things like Honor and Integrity? Yeah, I can see everyone in the military living by such values. 😛

Reminds me of when I went to MEPS testing in Seattle to see if I could meet the physical qualifications. Some people that were there for the testing were actually being sworn in afterwards. We were all staying at a hotel that night, as some of us had come in from remote locations and others were shipping out the next morning to basic.

When we woke up the next morning, it turned out that a few of the people that had been sworn in the night before had bugged out during the night.

Yeah, we had a group of 9 that were supposed to be in a van to Fort Knox, but only 6 showed up. I think the Delayed Entry Program is a joke and that you should be held to your contract when you sign it and not when you take the oath.

Hey, thanks for the heads up. But if your story of kickbacks and fraud is widespread, someone might make a lot more as a federal whistle blower.

Only as long as the op doesn't update the thread once he becomes one. 😉

You could really run up a racket if you know a recruiter. Hell, the recruit would never even need to know that his info got put into the program. Of course, I hope that you enjoy Fort Leavenworth.

In keeping with the kinder, gentler, politically correct times, it is no longer being called "Fort" Leavenworth. "Fort" implies defenses, violence, and all sorts of nasty things like that. It is now being called "Leavenworth Health Spa and Resort."

If you fail to report misappropriations, you are complicit.
Whose side are you on, really?

As a matter of fact, at Basic, our CO informed our company that we could no longer formally refer to the strip of area down the middle of each bay the "KILL" zone and that we must find a new name. Apparently some Private complained about the offensiveness of the name.

hahaha, Federal Whistle Blowers get shot.

The most important step to this scheme is to post about it on a public forum telling hundreds of people including but not limited to: soldiers, police officers, government workers, and whistle blowers.
