Might take my oldest daughter. She loves scary movies. Great way to help her recover from her appendectomy this past Wed. :Q

Bah...the only Alien movie worth watching...the original...this time it's the Director's Cut.

All of the sequels blew chunks.

Not really. Old special effects. Corny old school technology. If it was drama, alright, but it's Sci-Fi, it's supposed to be at least somewhat visually and audibly stimulating.

Good: Alien Director's Cut in the theater
Bad: So far no theater around here has it listed in their showtimes

Since I've never seen the original version, this would be great to see in the theater, however if no theater is showingit, I'm going to be pissed.

ill go see it cause itll be cool. ive seen it before but that doesnt matter

id seen starward and when they were re released in thearters i saw all 3 of them

No appreciation for the classics. Let me guess, late teens early twenties? If it's not CG then it's crap group?

I got appreciation for classics. But what's age got to do with it man? Quit acting so righteous just because you're older (I'm assuming you are). Like I said, if it was a drama, or even comedy for that matter, it would be just fine. But it's SciFi, it's supposed to be "Techy." Old school tech and old special effects isn't worth it for me to put out money just to see it on a bigger screen. The "it's an experience" aspect of it doesn't come into play for me as it would say watching something live as opposed to watching it at home.

I liked Alien and Aliens. The third one was okay, the last was not.

Also, special effects (high tech like) was not a significant part of Alien. If you can enjoy a classic horror movie, there's no reason why you couldn't enjoy Alien.

I'm 22 not that much older than you, and I'm not acting self righteous. Your post just came across as "it's an old Sci-Fi movie and because it's old it sucks" is all. To each their own. If there's an old school movie being re-released in the theater and it's a cool movie, I'm there. 🙂

One thing I don't get, though, is *why* is this being re-released this year? The timing is cool (Halloween), though.

ALien was good
Aliens f'in ruled. So much action, marines, killing. AWESOME
Aliens 3 - Actually i liked it. Funny how one alien can take out an entire prison
Alien Resurection- SUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to point out that the key to a good sci-fi movie is to not focus on the technology. Star Trek always went in and explained all their tech and did alot of showing what something was and IMO it's hard to watch old star trek stuff because of this.

Star wars (the original) did not focus on the technology at all, we never saw how the fighters were powered or anything and because of that you can go back and watch them without being distracted thinking "OMG that was so stuipid." The original 2 alien movies were the same way, we did not see any of the how or why they did things, we did not get an explination of how the androids worked nothing. It was a good (very scary in the case of alien) story set in a sci fi world where the focus was on the plot and not on the cool uber-geek stuff they had.

Alien still scares the crap out of me, aliens is still one of the most enjoyable movies i have ever seen.

I heard the director's cut is worse than the original, because Ridley Scott cut out a bunch of time from the slower scenes. The DC is 1min shorter than the original, and from what I've heard, the new scenes don't add much but the subtraction of time takes away from the suspense. 😛

Because they felt like it.
Why not rerelease something, that you would have to go through minimal cost and trouble for, to pick up a few extra bucks.

You should see some of the remakes that they are planning. Dawn of the Dead anyone?
