Me either. I'm going to wait until my contract is actually due to be renewed to make any changes to it. 400 anytime $32.00/mo America's Choice plan (discount through work) suits me just fine for now.

eh, I have verizon and hardly only use my 1000 m2m with GF. I am not about to renew my contract with blood sucking verizon. I will go month to month and hope that cingular/t-mobile/att merge by end of this ear or middle of next.

Verizon is like a freaking Mafia. You can't get good ringers, wallpapers or games without paying more money and to top it all off the PHONES suck with the exception of LG phones.

Verizon is a phone company. I get great phone coverage. I never once looked for a ringer, a wallpaper or a game to play on my phone. So Verizon suits me just fine. You wouldn't renew your contract because your phone doesn't play La Cucaracha when it rings?

From what I've heard, Sprint's nationwide network doesn't hold a candle to Verizon.

actually they're pretty comparable. verizon is just a bit better. i think sound qualitywise sprint pcs is better though.

but hey i'm posting through my laptop via my tmobile phone on a regular 39.99 plan because of free WAP. so ha! :D

oh yeah and i wouldn't EVER sign a 2 year contract with anyone. that's just too damn long to commit, and you're bound to want a new phone before that.

Yeh, cause my phone came with crap for ringers and its matter of principle. I paid for the phone and I shouldn't be locked out from customizing it. Also most providers have txt messaging free unlike verizon and as I said they have only 2 decent phones. So yes I wish verizon would either die or other companies get better so I can switch.

It's like dell making me pay to change wallpapers on my desktop....(well almost).

I have used our Sprints in the Fairfax area, down to Calvert County (Md), up into Fredrick (Md) and over into Wilmington (DE) with no problems.

Even tooling around the Rockville and G-burg back woods, we were not dropped.

You may have to make a choice of phone or coverage.

I may have to... I even have had dropped calls/missed calls while driving around this area, all over the place. And there's practically nowhere you can go around here that is "out there." Everywhere you go around here, you are within 3 miles of a large strip mall, housing plan, neighborhood, office complex, etc.

Same here. I think someone in Verizon marketing probably told them that rarely anyone uses the
1000 moblie to moblie minutes anyway, so making it unlimited won't actually effect their bottom line
that much, and its considerably better marketing pitch.

Just like if someone asked do you want
Free Nights and Weekends or 1000 minutes for Nights and Weekends.

Free always has a better ring to it.

wow, where the heck do you live in Northern Virginia? Sounds like you have a bad phone or something. I live in Arlington and have been all over NoVa, Richmond, C'ville area, and Va Beach area as well as the surrounding DC metro area and never had a dropped call. My office at work is in the innermost part of a big building in Crystal City and get a full signal. Never been to SW Va though so can't comment about that.

I've had to not make calls cuz i was approaching the 1000 m to m last month so this extension to unlimited is great for me. I like to keep in touch with a lot of people from college, etc so the minutes rack up plus Verizon coverage is awesome! I switched as soon as my T-Mobile contract was up.

have you tried updating your PRL (preferred roaming list) on your phone?
taken from pdaphonehome.com:
The PRL is a binary file used to tell the phone what cellular towers to use. Without a PRL update, the phone will continue to search for the towers of the previous provider that the phone was used on, and not the provider that you wish to use.
if you are interested in doing this, hit *228 on your phone, and follow the instructions. it will download the update to your phone, restart it, and that should do it.

heh, exactly. verizon covereage has been better than att/cingular/tmobile.. and sometimes sprint around here. I have had no troubles and love it. Granted, it's a bit more expensive :/ but i'm on the family plan so it helps out a bit. And my phone is dying.. i think i dropped it one too many times :)

I was browsing the howard forums last night and people were talking about uploading ringers/wallpapers to their phones via a data cable or sending them via mobile messenging. Granted, thats with an LG phone, but you may be able to do it with your particular model, check the howard forums.

Tried that before, didn't do anything. I guess I could always try it again.

Alexandria! I travel all over the country and only here is it this bad.

something is definitely wrong with your service, phone, or something. I'm pretty sure Verizon is cream of the crop in this area. Most of my friends live throughout Alexandria and all of us have Verizon Wireless and no complaints. I probably spend 80% of my time outside of work at my g/fs (off Van Dorn) or some other friends place (like Huntington Area or Old Town) in Alexandria and never have been without a strong signal on my lg4400

Keep in mind the following:

1. Reception is somewhat dependent on your phone. Currently the best performers are the LG phones.
2. Your house may be a reception "black hole." The construction of some buildings hinders transmission.
3. Call Verizon and let them know. They will record your complaint and may end up putting up a closer tower.
4. Sprint will likely be the same as Verizon, as they also use CDMA and in some cases share towers.

Back to topic - I called and spoke to a rep within 30 seconds (as opposed to AT&T's 3-hour hold times). My plan was preserved (500 / min family plan America's Choice), got unlim. in-network for both me and my g/f. It's $10 extra for the 2nd line though.

Change is effective immediately. Verizon rocks.

Did you have to renew your contract though?
