Sweaty sweaty ..

I've had a problem with really sweaty hands and feet for quite a while and am wondering what the medications are for this and if anyone has had experience with them. I know there is some sort of surgery that makes it stop too but don't remember what it is called. Uhh.. that's all. Right now I can see beads of sweat forming on the top of my feet and the bottoms are all pruny. Ewww.

I went to a Dermatologist about this, once. She told me I had 4 options:

1) Medication, which was old, and would require me to take it several times a day.
2) Surgery, removal of the sweat glands.
3) Injection of medication to kill the sweat glands.
4) There is a device I could have bought. It's a small pan which you put water into; it electrofies this water, and you put your hands into it, killing the
glands.

2) Holy crap! :Q
3) Holy sh!t!
4) Holy mu&%$#@err! Doesn't that hurt?!

what the hell happens if you kill your sweat glands?! if you don't sweat.... this just boggles my mind. If you kill the glands in your hands, then doesn't it have to come out somewhere else? wouldn't your head be sweating twice as much?

I've heard that botox is now being used for nullifying (killing?) the sweat glands. I'm not sure if you want to botox your hands, though; they might become quite useless.

i had the same exact problem for years. i just learned to live with it, even though it bothers me sometimes. i have sweaty hands and sweaty feet almost all the time, and they are constantly moist. my doctor gave me this stuff you apply to your hands to keep them dry, and they work, but i guess im too lazy to use them much.

she also mentioned that surgery was an option to destroy the sweat glands, but she doesnt recomend it. she said your sweat may come out other places.

also, she said its mostly a genetic thing, and most people dont grow out of it. i just learned to bear it, its not that bad....

If you don't sweat through your palms and feet... your back and your bottocks starts to sweat instead... although some people might think that's not as embarassing as sweaty palms... i would know i have this problem too... and considered the surgery as well. 🙁 That's why i love winter... its cold enough to keep me dry and happy. 😀

A few times while working in a building w/o air conditioning I would get sweat spots on the back of my pants which probably is worse than sweaty hands but it doesn't usually happen and doesn't show with most pants .. I don't seem to sweat any less when it's cold. My hands just get really clammy.

I can live with it but it would be nice to have normal hands sometime. Do you remember the name of the stuff your doctor gave you? Was it a prescription or over-the-counter?

I don't want to shock or alarm you but they could be symptoms of a mild form of diabetes.
I don't think. My dad is a pediatric endocrinologist and he has never said anything of the sort.
