many BB/Pellet guns look real. It did NOT have the orange tip that toys do. The cops did the right thing.

Why don't you put in a sig "Official Ricemarine error checker."

Don't you have to add "commit"?

The only way to know if it was real or not would require them to be way too close.

I live about 30 minutes from this area...The kid got what he deserved. No matter how many times you fail a grade, by 8th grade you know not to bring a firearm to school.

***Pellet guns normally have a red or pink barrel, but the barrel of the gun in the hands of the student had been painted black, making it almost impossible to tell the difference between it and a real gun, Eslinger said.***

I got a pellet rifle that'll do serious damage at 50+ feet and looks like a real rifle. Cops won't fvck around with that crap.

I have NEVER seen a pellet or BB gun with a pink or red barrels. maybe the sheriff is thinking of toy guns or something.

The only ones I've seen are the airsoft ones that are modeled after M16's and such.

The quote I posted was from the article I linked to. I don't shoot 'pellet' guns so I wouldn't know. In any event, that further give the officer's the right to fire. A kid pointed a deadly weapon at him, so he used deadly force in return. It's unfortunate though. I hope he lives through it.

Yeah but the article is inaccurate...which puts the policeman in bad light which I don't like.

CNN is reporting that the kid has died. Too bad. Even though he brought this on himself and obviously wanted to die, the death of a child is a sad thing. RIP.

The police still had the right to shoot the kid and they did the right thing. It easily could've been a real gun and the kid easily could've fired it. It's unfortunate that a child was wounded and possibly might die by the hands of the police but it was the right thing to do.

Bingo. Or cap guns.
When they said "pellet" gun they were referring to plastic pellets which would be a toy.

Um gfu. If you skipped a grade I'd probably understand.

But either.

1. He got held back.
or
2. He started late.

Still, that kid must've been really good to hold a bluff of threatening to suicide when he knows he has a pellet gun.

I don't think there's any question about that. Again, I feel bad for the cop, but also for the dead child. It's a sad case all around.
