Swapping PC's for better gaming?

In my sig is my current rig for my gaming needs. I have been wanting to upgrade my vid card and have gotten great help in that regard, but keep being told that my CPU is a bottleneck. I have another PC I built as a server, using an MSI 760GM-E51 (FX) AM3+ AMD 760G HDMI Micro ATX , a AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core 3.5GHz (4.1GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 95W Desktop and Team Vulcan 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800).

My question is this: is the FX-6300 a better choice for gaming instead CPU-wise?

Depends on the games, and whether you overclock. If you OC, yes, I'd say the FX is better.

I'm not an OC'er anymore. Mostly just Diablo 3, kinda getting into Heroes of the Storm, and the most intensive thing I've tried playing is Final Fantasy Reborn, that thing is a beast if you want it to look good.

Going by that comparison, 6800K has better single core performance which is important for Diablo. He's better off with the 6800K.

In overall performance, FX-6300 is 7% faster which is nowhere near enough to call it a "marked improvement"... more of a pointless sidegrade.

And by that it's only 0.2 better. Now account for adding in say a 270X, then the swap would make more sense then, right? I would get more life out of the FX for gaming, correct? I'm also considering this as a means to play FF XiV as well.

I think that lehtv's point was that without overclocking, their performance is pretty similar overall (and the Bench agrees). So you're not going to notice a difference either way.
