Is it possible to take out my current Intel mobo and install a new (Asus or ABIT) mobo without having to re-install Windows XP from scratch?
I know the 1st thing you're supposed to do when you install XP for the fist time is install the BIOS for your mobo on fist boot-up. You're supposed to do this before installing anything else on your system.
So... since I already have BIOS installed for this specific Intel mobo on my system, will it be a major problem for me if I start up my system on a newly-installed Asus mobo and update the BIOS with the new Asus software afterwards? I assume there might be a glitch in the system because on boot-up, XP will be looking for an Intel mobo and it won't recognize the Asus one in there.
Maybe this is where "Flashing" the BIOS comes into play because you usually Flash the BIOS before Windows ever gets to load.
I'd appreciate any input on this you all can give me. Thanks.
