Swapping out Eclipse CD Deck for Panasonic---Difficult?

So i'm a computer guy, not really a car guy....but....

My current Eclipse CD Deck in my car is just old, and skips like crazy. So i've bought a Panasonic CD Player to replace it.

My question is, how difficult is it going to be to replace the Eclipse? Is it just a simple out & swap? Or do i need to buy something first?

Thanks

If they have the existing adapter to directly adapt it to the vehicle's wiring harness then use it on the current one as it will decode the colors to standard aftermarket decks.
If not you will have to follow which wires went to what, easiest just to disconnect the plug on the back of the old deck so you will have a place to work.

so i'm 90% sure that they used a wiring harness on the initial install of the eclipse, so is it as simple as plugging in the red/white & power?

Um, you just plug the color coded wires to each other.

Radio Harness>Aftermarket adapter harness>OEM harness

Cut the wires from between the adapter and A.M. radio harness and match the colors from the new radio harness to the A.M. adapter.
