Swapping Mobo w/Same Model

I've read several posts here about when changing a mb you should reinstall the os. What if you're changing the board with the same make and model mb? Example, swapping an Epox 8k7a defective board with a good 8k7a? What it still be advisable to reinstall the os or can I get away with not reinstalling?

Thanks

you probably can just swap the boards no problem

one thing you may want to check...
are both boards the same pcb revision? (meaning maybe the boards even though they are the same model might have some differences.. for example different onboard audio chip, etc)

From what I can tell, the only difference is the raid controllers. The one I currently have has raid but I'm not using it?the new one is the non raid version.

punkemon1, another vote for power down, swap the MB, and power up. I've done it more than once and everything's fine 🙂
