I am just curious. I have 4x2 sticks of DDR2 900 Gskill PI's and they have those heatsinks that protrude off the sticks making it difficult for me to use. NO, i don't have a large heatsink or fan in the way, its a little more complicated; but what I was wondering is, is it possible to swap out those heatsinks for something else?

Possible? Yes. Advisable? Probably not as you risk tearing an IC off the PCB when you remove the spreaders. You may want to contact Gskill directly as this would most likely void your warranty also if that is a concern.

First, those Black-PI DDR2-900s are great. I have a pair. They do exactly as I gambled they would when I bought them for the $50+.

Second, Yellowbeard is totally correct. For the brief examination I gave those modules, they appear to be a "one-up" on the Corsair DHX technology. The risk of damage upon removal is high; the chances of doing it successfully seems very low.

If you posi-lutely abso-tively cannot use them in your rig the way they are, I suggest you just buy a set of regular G.SKILLs with the polished blue-metal heatspreaders.
