My mother's comp stopped working, and before I could really look at it she bought a new one. The only thing wrong her old one was some bad ram, so I just put some spares in and it worked perfectly. Now she wants her old one back since she was used to how she had that one set up, but she doesn't want (or can't) take the new one back. I was wondering if I could just switch out the hard drives. I've done this before accidentally when I didn't have some jumpers set right, but it was going from an Intel Celeron to a Pentium 4. Windows just installed the right drivers automatically. Is this possible when going from a Core 2 Duo to a AMD quad core? Or was it just a fluke last time?
Edit: Both hard drives have Windows Vista on them

It might work, but I wouldn't count on it. Backup the drive, and give it a try. If it doesn't work, and you hose the install, reimage the drive.
