My current video card is an evga 7950GT KO Superclocked 512MB card.
I ordered an evga 8800GT when newegg had them in stock friday night.

Will I notice a significant improvement i fps/smoothness of various games? I have a dell 2407 LCD btw.

I play COD4 and will get crysis with the card.

I would say you would see maybe a little more than 2x the performance easily.

thanks for the info and the link.

I know that if you change drivers, theres a program to delete the old ones before you install the new ones. but if you are changing video cards while keeping the same drivers is it best to still delete the drivers before installing the new card???

First, download the new drivers (I use the 169.09 beta).

And yes, you should uninstall the old graphics drivers (with the old card still in) and reboot.

Then I go to C:\NVidia directory, rename the old driver directory to ex. "old-169.04" (just in case - you can delete it, too) and run a Registry Cleaner (like Registry Mechanic by PCTools) to remove all the possible old driver registry entries. Some people prefer to use the Driver Cleaner.

Shut down the computer, replace the card, and install the new drivers.

Good luck!
