I had an AMD Win7 system running with a Phenom (Athlon) II x4 840 on a Biostar 760G board. I got a decent deal on a Phenom II x4 965 and a ASRock 970DE3 board, so I just swapped them out under the same windows installation. After reinstalling some drivers everything seems to work great, except that the 965 is not ramping down when unloaded; it's running at 3.4GHz all the time. The relevant settings for CnQ are on in the BIOS, however it simply won't clock down.
It's not a huge deal if I can't get it to work, but I'd prefer that it did without having to completely reinstall Windows. I downloaded the AMD all-in-one driver for my board from the ASRock site and installed that. It installed a missing AHCI SATA II driver (even though SATA already worked) and an AHCI Filter driver. Rebooted and still no dice.
Suggestions?
