Swapped 3930K for 4930K, now base system device drivers missing!

I just swapped out a 3930K for a 4930K and I figured there'd be no problems. But when I booted into Windows, my device manager is showing lots of drivers either missing or dysfunctional. (code 28)

Base system device drivers, my GPU drivers, system interrupt controller etcetera are all screwed up..

I figured that I wouldn't have to reformat just to do a CPU swap. My BIOS is up to date as well, so I know my motherboard can take the 4930K..

I tried reinstalling the chipset drivers but that didn't do any good. Any ideas?

You need to install the latest chipset drivers for your motherboard. I had the same issue when I upgraded from a 3930k to a 4930k and had to install the latest chipset drivers for my motherboard.

I tried that though. I'm using these drivers:

It should work but it isn't!

use the drivers for your MOBO :twisted: ... go to your MOBO manufacturers' website to get them

OK I installed the mobo drivers from Asrock's website and it worked! :awe:

But WTF? The drivers I was using before should have worked as well since they are a newer version

they were apparently different enough to cause a problem. always use the mobo drivers
