I have this dell latitude 600 and it only has a 1.6 ghz pentium M, and I'd like to be able to swap it out for a dual core if that'd be even possible, even if it were a lower end dual core. such as this one

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16819111328

I don't have the socket information but I'll run cpu-z on it tomorrow. anyone ever swap mobile processors and wish to offer advice. thanks!

The chipset will more than likely not allow it. I see no way that it can happen.

Yeah, you're definitely going to have to get Socket info and chipset information. But I'll go ahead and say that there's no way you'll be able to go to a Core 2. In fact as far as I know, no Intel notebooks were able to upgrade from single core to anything dual core, even the original Core Duos were undoable.

The only single to dual core conversion on a notebook I was aware of was the allowance of some single core Turion notebook users to upgrade to Turion X2s.

Pentium M and Core CPU's are pin-incompatible. It can't be done, although you might be able to upgrade to a faster Pentium M.

Yeah i realized that i get a faster pentium m. I might look into it depending on the price and how much of an increase in performance i'll actually get. I think I currently have 400 fsb and am pretty sure that I'm not able to exceede that or else I'll mess something up permanently. Thanks for the help
