Swap motherboard in Dell????

Anybody know if I can put a newer MB in a Dell clamshell box? Have a P4 2.53 and might get a HT P4 on a new MB. The MB is not Dell.

?????

Usually, the answer is no.

DELL power supplies have a slightly different pin-out for the ATX power connector. You would probably have to change the power supply, or do a bit of re-wiring.

Secondly, the case button and LED header is mounted as a single block rather than individual pins/smaller connectors on a DELL motherboard. Again, you either need to cut the connector, or make a few changes.

my dell uses a normal PSU, just has the cables bundled together, and as I need another I just pull open the bundler (similar to a twistie tie, but plastic)

you'll most likely run into problems though, and t might be worth your $$$ to take it to a PC shop if you've never installed mobo;s before since it will likly be a particularly troublesome upgrade.
