swap HD from one 360 into another?

bringing Rock Band 2 & instruments over to a friend's house tomorrow. Since he's already got an xbox 360 I was wondering if I could just take the hard drive from my 360 (with all the DLC & RB 1 songs) and plug it into his.

Will all the songs and xbox live accounts be detected by his 360? are there any settings that need to be adjusted for this to work?

Yep, its all tied to your gamer tag which will move over with your HDD.

Should just be a simple swap

As long as he is on Xbox Live, everything will work flawlessly to my knowledge. The way it works is that the content and Live name are associated with your Xbox's serial number, and if you are on your Xbox without Live, everything will work as it should, but if you were to swap HDDs with another Xbox, then the content isn't verified as using the same system and will then not work appropriately.

That's why there were so many complaints about the DRM restriction on Xbox. However, I may be completely wrong in this, but I've had several Xboxii die on me and when I've replaced them and connected my HDD, my content wouldn't work offline.

Just make sure your friend has an internet connection to the box, and everything should just work.

yeah his 360 is hooked up to the internet so it sounds like there's no issue there. sounds like all i have to do is sign in with my gamertag and everything should be good to go, right?

Confirmed, I do the same thing.

Same here. Only prob is I have a 360 at my GFs house and her sone also has one. If hes using his I have to use mine in the bedroom and there is no net connection there. So my DLC or my transferred RB1 music wont play on RB2 in the system in the bedroom. What I did is use my laptops wifi and ethernet port, created an internet bridge with them and connected the cat5 cable to the xbox. It works rather well but the AP is real far from the laptop and I get disconnected a lot. I may have to put a repeater somwhere in the middle of the apartment.
