Swans M200 Speakers

I just have a few questions about the multimedia Swans M200 speakers. My primary concern is that these speakers might not be for me. I listen to mostly classical rock (Pink Floyd, Eagles, Rolling Stones, Beatles, and all sorts of things in between) and I am afraid that some of the bass might be lost. While I am dying to hear "audiophile-like speakers" or whatever you want to call them, I do enjoy a little punch to my music. (Currently I own a pair of Logitech Z3 and generally keep the subwoofer at around 20% because I find anything higher too boomy, loose, and loud.)

To counter this I have read that some have spent another 100 dollars on powered subwoofers and were able to hook it up with the Swans. I really have no idea how to do this. Would I have to spend extra money on cables, crossovers, and other hardware, or even software?

Any input about the Swans is highly appreciated.

Welcome to the forums!

First off, How much are you willing to pay? I might be able to find you something better for the money.

Also, will you just be using theese for music?

I am willing to spend around 200 - 300 dollars, but then again I also need to buy a sound card as I am still using the stock sound card on a Dell Inspiron 6000, a laptop.

I listen mostly to music, but then again I also watch the occasional DVD and even play a video game now and then.

thanks, fleft

sorry I forgot about the thread. First I would get the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook. That costs around $100. That leaves you about $200 for speakers. There is a brand that makes really good bookshelf speakers, I can't remember the name. I'll see if I can find it.

EDIT: I can't seem to find it. Send the soundman (he was given that title by the moderators) a PM and he should be able to help you out. His name is YOyoYOhowsDAjello
