"Birdwatchers rushed excitedly to see a swallow that hasn't been seen in Britain for 20 years - then got a nasty surprise when eaten by a hawk in front of their eyes.

The twitchers had been watching the red-rumped swallow for 20 minutes when it stopped to rest on a TV aerial.

It was then that the sparrowhawk swooped, near Montrose in Scotland.

Group member Mike Sawyer said: 'We were horrified. We had just called other birdwatchers to tell them the news, and then had to call back to say it had been eaten.'"

And the hawk is thinking, "Oh man, this is awesome. I haven't seen one of these things in 20 years! Damn they're delicious!"

hahahah

I watched a woodpecker peck himself a hole in the side of a pine tree outside my living room window for a few weeks..

Then one day when I was walking out to my car, I saw a hawk sweep in and rip the woodpecker from his place. The woodpecker made a 'peep peep peep' sound as it was flown off. I was like 'damn..' oh well.

hahahha, that's classic.

Guess we know why they don't see to many of that species. They're dumb and can't evade predators.

But why is a sparowhawk hitting a swallow? Maybe this swallow looks like a sparrow.

If you want to know what a sparrowhawk looks like...just imagine the little brainy chickenhawk fellow from Looney Toons.
