What isn't good about that?

Sure 911, just try it.

I dare you.

The mods will have you honey roasted in no time...

Think about it! It's the most popular movie series EVER! There's GONNA be DOZENS of threads! There's no way only a few threads will contain the excitement of hundreds of fans...

So why not have a few threads?? There is no reason that everybody that comes across a review needs to make a new thread about that review, dump it in one of the many that say "review"

The mods must be fans too, because no other topic would be allowed to be posted over, and over, and over, and over, and over,......

911 chill out or go away. We know your one of those people who get off on telling people that there thread is a repost or they should use search. Come on Star Wars is huge I'm suprised there isn't more threads on it IMHO.
So STFU for all our sakes.

At least it's all new info...

I suppose there should be one thread where the reviews are posted, because I could pretty much care less what anyone says, positive or negative, as I've not seen the movie.

That is my point, make one thread about reviews, one about spoilers, one about reactions, maybe one or two others, not 12 a day.

Don't get me wrong , I am a fan myself. In fact, I saw the original Star Wars when it was released on a school (6th grade?) field trip.

I don't know what you're smoking, but the very first review seems to be quite positive. He says it is very much like the first 3, is absolutely incredibly visually, and is very fun...

But the main theme to all the reviews is that the characters are wooden and the dialogue forgettable.

Gone are the days of Harrison Ford telling Carrie Fisher that "she needs more scoundrels in her life..." or yelling at C3PO to "Never tell me the odds!" Have the actors show some EMOTION for fux sake! When QuiGon bought it and ObiWan busted a$$ on Darth Maul then cradled QuiGon's head in his lap. QuiGon said ,"it's too late" and ObiWan's anguished "No..." seemed really heartfelt. I cannot get too upset over Ewoks getting wacked or Pod Races where everybody is flying at 600 mph and they simply skid to a stop and never get hurt on the sand when their rigs destruct catastrophically...

I know that we are much more sophisticated now and the old movie cannot hold up visually, but why does the story always suffer at the expense of the effects in EVERY effects driven movie?

Just how is Lucas letting you down? Is this a one man show and Lucas is the only actor? I'm sure that his hands were tied in many areas. Maybe you should blame the actors or something instead of Lucas. Yea, it might be bad and it might be his fault, but most likely it's the actor's fault and replacing an actor midway through a high profile movie like this would cause major problems.

OK, you win. I see what you mean...Ford kicked so much ass.

I think it would be easier for Lucas, though maybe not as practical, to do the SEQUALS to the first 3. I mean, Mark Hamill, Ford, Fisher, Daniels, Baker, etc. are all still alive AND aged pretty much apropriately. It would be perfect!

I guess I am such a fanboy that I really WANT the new movies to excel, but I keep getting these lame-a$$ ideas for plots, half baked story lines and wooden acting. It physically pains me to be critical of the SW franchise, but I can't help it. The Matrix had it's major flaws and continuity errors, but the IDEAS and CONCEPTS were so fresh and new that it made it easier to put up with Keanu's stilted performance.

It's like in SWI - Lucas told all the actors to act as if they had a stick up their butt. Perfect example for you: in SWI, the hangar doors open to reveal Darth Maul blocking the way. QuiGon states calmly, "We'll handle this..." Amidala says to her troops "Let's take the long way" with little emotion. The original characters would have said: Luke with boyish enthusiasm "I'll handle this!" and Princess Leia and Han Solo would have rolled their eyes and exasperatedly note "I guess we'll take the long way..."

SW - IV had it's funny notes and quotes, now it seems like the only recurring line is: "I've got a bad feeling about this..."

Im as big as a Star Wars fan as anyone, but Im certainly not disappointed with the new movies. I think anyone that is upset about the newer ones really hasnt stepped back and put the originals in perspective.

Other than nostalgia, A New Hope is inferior in every single way to the Phantom Menace. You want bad acting? Poor dialogue? Boring sequences? Poor effects? Empty scoring? Episode IV is what you are looking for. When taken as part of a six piece set, Episode IV works well enough, though is still inferior to the other 3 (soon to be 4) Star Wars movies. In fact, if it werent for Empire Strikes Back, the original trilogy would lack any depth whatsoever (Jedi just played off of the depth of Empire).

Ive read over 40 reviews for Attack of the Clones, and only about 4 or 5 were negative. I suggest you see it for yourself first and then determine if you like it.

the good news: it isn't worse than the first movie

the bad news: that isn't saying much ;)

having watched a version of ep2 a friend downloaded and burned, i have to say it's pretty disappointing. the only reason it isn't as disappointing as the first is that my expectations of this one were much lower. the dialog is horrible, the acting is painful to watch and the effects are the only thing this movie has going for it. that and the SW pedigree.

i've already pre-ordered my ticket and i'll be watching it opening day, but i just wanted to get the disappointment out of the way first so i'd know exactly what to expect walking into that theater on Thursday.

I'll concede most of the points over SW IV in many ways it was weak, but the effects for 25 years ago were TOP NOTCH and there were some very exciting sequences...

ESB was the king no doubt about it...

Rest assured, I will see it, but when people ask me, what did you think? I want to be able to tell them that it rocked, not that I think it could have been much, much better.

I am excited to see it, but I don't want it to be like Star Trek #1, I'd like a little more "Wrath of Khan" in it, if you know what I mean...

I wonder why so many people complain about the dialogue for Episode I and II but not IV, V and VI. Lucas wrote the screenplays for those as well, and many less than stellar lines were muttered. The love dialogue between Han and Leia was nice, but it certainly wasnt real. You wouldnt see two adults carrying on like that.

"dont get all mushy on me, so long princess"

"han we need you"
"what about you need me"
"i dont know what you are talking about"

"you want me to stay because they way you feel about me"
"yes you are a natural leader"
"no, thats not it"

"you could use a good kiss!"

"let go of me"
"dont get excited"
"being held by you isnt quite enough to get me excited"
"sorry sweetheart, we dont have time for anything else"

I could go on and on, the dialogue isnt the best, its campy though, its got the "star wars" feel to it. Its about setting and delivery, enhanced by John Williams's score.
