After getting disappointed with the expansion to Empires at war, I fired up the original. I was doing nicely after loading up a save around day 400 till I had a battle at around day 700. Quick battle as the enemy retreated...and then my game crashed 🙁

it creates a quicksave, but even after a bit of hex editing to get this save in a loadable format, it seems it's only a partial save of data at the moment of the battle as I can't load a normal game with it. Anyone happen to have experience editing save files of this game?
 
Build a fleet of Death Stars and proceed to systematically obliterate the entire galaxy. That'll teach em.
