I decided to replay KOTOR1, after I finish Kotor1, I think I'll pick up KOTOR2. I have both an Xbox and PC.

Has anyone played on both? Which one was better? Is there any advantages to getting one version over another? Patches/Updates? Xbox Live downloadable content?

My PC specs are an AthlonXP 2.2ghz, 1GB DDR and a Geforce 6800 Ultra, so its a pretty good system. However, my brother would probably like to play the game too, he has an identicial system, except he has a Geforce3 Ti200, a much slower videocard.

Thanks

KOTOR I for PC had more stuff, but KOTOR II seems to be a direct port from console. Plus the graphics just suck on PC. I would just go with whatever you prefer.

BTW, gamespot gave it an 8.5 on both PC and xbox.

I always vote for the PC simply because you can customize the graphics. That being said, you can't customize a whole lot in KOTOR 2 anyway. It still looks pretty good and ran very smoothly with a 6800GT but I am not so sure how it would handle on an older card.

Neither, to be honest. After KOTOR 1, it was a big disappointment. It's obvious it was pushed out the door by LucasArts for the money, which is a shame, because the first was such a masterpiece I was really looking forward to the first. Wonder what the third one will be like...

Anyway, replay KOTOR 1 for most lucky best happiness.

Hrm, thanks guys.

I'm still a bit undecided. I'd go for which ever one was cheaper, but both are the same price. Oh well, I'm not even close to beating KOTOR1 yet, so I'll still have plenty of time.

Bioware didn't make II. They handed development over to another company so they could concentrate on Jade Empire.

Not buy it?

Was Kotor2 really that bad? Or was it just a disappointment from the original?

Where the hell did I say that BioWare made KOTOR 2?

No offense, but I am well aware of this. The "other company" would be Obsidian Ent. who is also developing NeverWinter Nights 2, while BioWare works on Dragon Age.

*shakes fist* Don't ye be tellin' me about BioWare's doins young'n! I's was wise to game development when ye was still in diapers!

It's pretty good, but pales compared to the first game due to the truncated development schedule to make the Xmas 2004 season with the Xbox version. It's still pretty good, but flawed. Ending is weak.

Definitely go with the PC version for the higher rez graphics. Even in HD, Xbox is only ~640x480. I'm running 1280x1024 w/AA and AF on the PC and it looks far better. When I got the PC version of KOTOR1 and looks back at the Xbox on my new HDTV (I'd played it on a regular set), it was Jaggie City.

I think he's trying to say that the reason KOTOR2 wasn't as good as the original because BioWare didn't develop it. I could be wrong.

PC, easily if you have a decently fast one. I don't know if they've even bothered to fix any bugs on the XBox version but mine was horrible, crashed WAY too much. With PC you'll at least have an update or two that might fix some things, plus PC games generally fall in price much faster than consoles, I'd think you could find it for a better price than for XBox, unless you're buying used.
