svideo laptop to tv question/help

I have a IBM T-30 laptop and when I connect svideo output up to my tv everything works great EXCEPT video, the source (divx, DVD) or player (real, wmp, quicktime, divx) does not matter, the video always shows up as a black box. Is there some setting I need to change in display settings, any ideas ??? A friends gateway laptop plays video on the tv, but it has and RCA output, so could it be something about svideo as opposed to RCA???

Thanks in advance for any advice

It has ATI Radeon 7500 video, right?

Install the latest catalyst drivers (3.1), and go play with the Clone Mode Options in the Overlay tab of the display control panel... It has nothing to do with S-video/RCA, earlier drivers were designed like this. (only displayed overlay on the primary display in clone mode)

IBM might not have the latest drivers, so you have to replace a couple of files to get the reference ATI drivers to install on your laptop. Or you can get the
Omega modded drivers, they should install on Mobility cards...
