SVGA cable color code

my friends dog chewed his new envision 17" crt monitor cable.

I hacked a couple replecements from dead monitors but both have
an extra wire.

the envision has a tiny brown wire but the cable has a tiny red wire and a tiny gray wire.

i figure brown goes to one or both red or gray but not sure which to try.

anyone got the answer?

i have the rest soldered in all nice and tidy with lil heatshrink on each wire,
just waiting for your input.
