Okay when ever I boot up a program called svchost will use 100% of my cpu for about 45 seconds and it will also do this almost at ramdom during normal operations.
I am using win XP pro and there are 5 versions of svchost running and 3 are for the system, 1 is for Local Service and the one that is giving me problems is the one for the network.
I understand that svchost is not causing the cpu to be overloaded but a program that is using it.(svchost)
I did a search on the forums found abunch of threads about svchost however none of them had a solution to my problem. But from thisthread and trmiv's information I have been able to find out that the only application that is using the Network svchost is a program called Dnscache. I dont know if this is fixable or if it is normal but it seems abnormal to have a dnscache program use 100% of a 800mhz athlon to either clear and write the dns ips or scan for new dns ips.
For now I am just going to end process svchost (Network) in the task manager. This does not seem to affect anything negativitly to the computers operation but I bet it would if the dns ips where to change. However I am looking for a permanante fix.
I'm wondering if I should post this in the networking forum.
/edit I did a simple file search for Dnscache and came up with nothing.
Did another search on the forums for Dnscache and found nothing.
