I was just wondering what this program does and why I have 8 of them using up my CPU.

Couple of links here. The short of it is, they're running a bunch of different services. If you want more information on each instance, use a program such as Process Explorer.

start>run>cmd>tasklist /svc

it will show you what each one is for.

I wish it wasn't so cryptic in the task manager. The average user wouldn't know what it is, and would probably think it's some kind of virus.

Interesting, there are 8 svchosts in task manage, but only 2 listed in command prompt...
Is that unusual?
