Isn't divx big enough now for some electronics manufacturer to do something with it ?

I thought it was Pro Logic II that used the surrounds effectively from a stereo signal. In my case I have a (relatively) ancient receiver with only Pro Logic I, and it sounds pretty bad when I try to use it with music CDs, but excellent with SVCDs (effects coming from the same places as the original DVD). I'm not positively sure though.
