SVC GC68 good enough for OCing a 1700+ Tbred B?

Well, anyone running one of these? I was thinking of snagging a SK-6+ with TMD adapter from SVC if it wasn't. I just can't justify spending $40 or more on the SLK-800 for a processor that cost the same amount. What do you guys think?

I have had good luck overclocking my XP1700+'s using one of these from newegg for $12 shipped. Pretty quiet, too with 80mm fan at 2500 rpm. On my shuttle AN35N it keeps the cpu around 30C at idle and under 40C at load. Running the XP1700 @ 1.83 gig at the moment (haven't flashed shuttle BIOS yet to obtain missing 11.5 12 and 12.5 multipliers). That speeze is a good bang for the buck cooler.

you can use 80mm fans on a sk6+ as well. the sk7 is twice as much as the sk6+, and the sk6 would be fine for your needs. I use it to oc my 1700+ to 2.3ghz.

I have an X-DREAM I just took off my XP 2200+ cpu.
44 C. at 3900 rpm running SOB and Chess Brain.
Has adjustable knob to regulate fan speed.
A little loud for me at 3900 but I had it by my bed also.

I got an SK-7 with a 2500 rpm fan and it idles around 39 C. now.

I have first hand experience in this. I've used my GC68 on my 1800+ DLT3C t-bred B. Running at 1.6V @ 2200mhz was at "ok" temps on my GC68. But to get very comfortable temps (less than 40C at idle), I would have to lower to default voltage at 2100mhz. If you are using a DUT3C chip, i would say a GC68 is good till 2.1ghz remaining at 1.6V, if you have a DLT3C chip, I would say good to about 2.1 ~ 2.2ghz remaining at 1.5V.

Bump on this cooler as well ... I was very skeptical coming from a 4.99 SVC GC68, but it is quieter and I am running cooler...... I was running 67c on a cheapo cooler and 58c on the svc....

Right now i am running between 37-40c on this thing... I am very impressed. I only wish NEWEGG would cut some slack on shipping for multiple units since its 5.00 on a 7.00 cooler takes a bit of the job away....

I think it supports up to XP 3000

BTW AMD 1700

GC68 is utter BS. I have one just without a fan, I use it as a case fan. SK-7 is an excellent cooler and the best of all - with a little adapter $4-5 it is good for 478 socket.
Remember all other AMD coolers are at the end of the line and for new 754/940 sockets you won't be able to use them.

Only I'd prefer either TMD fan which is exactly perfect fit for SK-7, or TT Smart Fan II. I had Sunon 50 cfm and that thing is noisy though like all ball bearing Sunons it is eternal (just doesn't go broke). Probably like 100,000 hours or so. Sunons are the best fans one can buy. Vantec Tornado is Sunon fan as well.

I suggest YS-Tek Adjustable hands down but if he ordered the sk-7 from case-mod which doesnt have ys tek, i would go with the sunon. Unless he wants to wait for svc.com to get sk-7 in stock and then buy that plus the ys tek. Just trying to save him a few and give him great perfomance
