SUVs, women drivers and CELL PHONES!!!!

Grrr.
That above combonation is bad bad news.

Today that combonation did some damage to my car and my mood.

I was driving down a 2 lane street today, 45mph speed limit.
Ahead of me was a cavalier and coming up on my right hand side was a side street with a stop sign.
Well this big expedition comes up that side street at about 20mph, make absolutly no attempt at stopping and pulls right into oncoming traffic. Nails the cavalier with her left hand quarter panel and they both skid sideways in my direct path. Im going about 45-50mph and have no chance of stopping, so I swerve off to the right and plow through a mail box and end up on some guys lawn.

So the mailbox post wrecked my front passenger quarter panel and all the lights on that side, except the headlight, which now points some other direction.

But the thing that urked me was that I could see this women drop her damned cellphone as she was about to hit this guy. Thank god NYS passed that ban on cellphones while driving just yesterday.

I had many words for her and I think I made her cry, but mabey she will never do anything that stupid again.

:disgust::|:|

I dunno how I could sue for that.
But I will get everything fixed on my car, regardless if this accident caused it or not.

Everyone is ok, bit of a headache for the guy in the cavalier.
Nothing major and we all went about or way, but not in our own cars!

i'm asian and all but i have to say that asian women drivers are whack!! NOT ALL OF THEM, (so the asian women on AT can relax 🙂) BUT MOST OF THEM!!!

I don't know what the Laws are in the US, but up here in the Tundra I swerved out of the way of an idiot driver, and drove my '94 Mustang GT off a bridge. Insurance did not cover it b/c I hit property...so basically if I did not swerve and let the guy hit me I would have been fine...go figure?

I think the cellphone broke actually, she had to use MINE to call her hubby.
They will receive a bill for that too.

She got words from me, I was pretty mad, to say the least.

I hope you get everything from her but how would you go about getting money from her insurance company when she didn't actually hit you or anything. I'd like to know the laws behind this just in case I've got to swerve out of the way of some crazy cali driver. Good luck she should have to pay for Everything but I think there might be some gray areas. 🙂

Yeah, thing is, I saw something the other night about how men are using their cells more often than women. It's hard to believe, in fact I don't believe it, but that's what they had on NBC or something the other night.

Every woman I know spends a hell of a lot more time on their cell than I do, and I use mine quite often. 😀

I'll be SO glad when/if California decides to ban cell phones next. I have one but I can deal without it when I'm driving.

Cell phones and cars are o.k. if you have hands free. I drive 60,000 miles a year in my car and I get 15 to 20 calls a day not to mention the calls out. I salute NY it is the best thing they have done since they sent the Giants to San Francisco. I can't belive they scooped the Peoples Republic of California on this one.

they need that law implemented in TX!!!....on the freeways of TX ppl doing well over 80 mph and on cell phones, changing lanes w/o signalling!...freakin dangerous and pisses me off!... :|
seen pretty bad accidents too on the freeways, cars turned over, on their sides, etc...wouldnt' be suprised if some of them were cell phone related in addition to speeding.... :|

WOW... YOU ARE SOOOOO LUCKY!!!

cuz usually if you put SUV, WOMAN, CELLPHONE together... the end result is usually quite a bit more tragic.

[end sarcasm]

anyway, glad you're alright.
