No van has the passanger AND cargo room an XL Suburban/Denali has.

I've seen no van that can seat 7-8 people AND still fit all their luggage and camping gear in the back.
Since different companies measure differently I'll use the same company for comparison.

[*]Chevy Suburban:

[*]Chevy Express: Heck even forget the commercial version and look at the passenger version. The comparison isn't even close.

im pretty sure hes referring to Mini-vans, but yes the Express and the Econoline are both Full size vans, and you can get conversion vans also. but its the fad, and they cant haul quite as much in terms of trailering, although they can trailer quite a lot of weight.

MIKE

A fullsize van can't trailer as much as an SUV? You do realize that the vans are built on truck frames and drivetrains, whereas SUVs are built on light truck frames and drivetrains, or, more frequently these days, minivan or large car frames and drivetrains; right? Or did I not read you right, and you're referring to the inverse? hah.

Also; minivan that can seat 7 and all their gear? The entire Chrysler minivan line from inception until like the mid 90's.

The Suburban is not built on a light truck frame. It's a fullsize.

It has a towing capacity that is double that of it's van counterpart, and it's all due to suspension.

No Chrysler minivan is going to have the capacity of a Suburban.

not only that, i was more for the Conversion vans, not the Work van, seriously wat person is going to be driving around a full size work van. a Conversion van, though expensive. is one HELL of a comfy ride.

Honestly, the suburban doesn't deserve to be called an SUV. It's a truck. Period. Always has been. SUV fit when it was like, 1 of 3 vehicles in the class, but now that all this pansy garbage has been added, it's just not one. But if you want to play the vans vs. Suburban game, see my other post.

And where did you get the towing capacity numbers? GMC themselves say 8400 on the Denali, 9700 on the Savana. That's NOT double.

Edit: I missed the 3/4 ton Yukon. That's 12000lbs. Still not double, but it IS higher.

They are all different shapes and sizes.
Yes SUVs come in all shapes and sizes, so do vans. But in every size category, a van typically has FAR more cargo room. Bring the floor up ~1 foot without changing the roof height and you see why. If you really need the space, a van is the way to go.

SUVs sure have their uses. But often a van can't be beat.

No van has the passanger AND cargo room an XL Suburban/Denali has.

ahem...

Think before you speak. The newer ones are even bigger.

I have thought before I spoke. I neglected to include towing capacity as well.

Oh well, I have never seen a passanger van with the capacities and comfort of a Suburban/Denali.

Sure, you can buy one of those buss-like commuter vans like the airport shuttles use, but their bench seats are crap for comfort, and they can't tow sh!t compaired to the Sub/Den.

Comfort? Do you want the interior pics of that van? Honestly, if you think for a MOMENT that a new SUV interior can compete with a custom interior from 20 years ago, you're on serious crack.

Towing? 9700lbs on the Savana (the modern equivalent). That's more than 1000lbs up on the Denali XL (8400lbs)

A fully converted Savana 3500 will seat 7 INCREDIBLY comfortably and cost MAYBE $30k. GMC says $26090.

The Suburban has a max towing capacity of nearly 13,000 lbs.

A fully converated Savana that seats 7 will have crap for cargo room in the rear once all three rows of seat are added compaired to the full length Suburban

Savanas ride like crap. Have you ever ridden in one? Hell, they rock back and forth so much they'll make you seasick.

Honestly, which one would you rather launch a boat with?

Truth is I wouldn't be caught dead in a van and I'm sure I'm not a lone.
If you wish to go off-road by an H1 or a Landrover, anything else won't cut it.
One of the reasons my mother got an SUV was because she wants to be the last one standing if she's ever in an accident. Others included she likes riding up high and she was tired of vans(we use to have 2: Chevy Astro and a Conversion GMC Safari). I looked around and finally just told her to get a Denali so that's what she has now. Although at the moment she's looking for a better car to scoot around in. Gas is getting expensive at 3 fill ups a week.

When that once in a decade comes, your boss will have the last laugh :)
Of course since he is a noob he will assume that he can drive as if it were clear and dry and realize all-too-late that 4WD doesn't help you stop any better.
So I guess you'll get the last laugh. Enjoy it when it comes :D

Had one already (though more of a cry) Some Dipstick buys a a new 4WD and decides to take a trip up to Mt. Lemmon (Tucson, AZ 9000+ ft, snow covered) to check it out. Fine, but this moron decides to pack it full of kids (his+ neighbor's all under 5, no other adults) and give them all a thrill-ride. Well of course he has no idea what he's doing and just "drives off the road" and immediately buries it up to the doors. Luckily for him we were returning from a hike and noticed him. Took five of us to push him out, and didn't even get a thank you. Would have been tempted to make him walk his ass out, except for the kids Perhaps we should have called C.P.S.

You know that (I think it is ) Oregon has proposed changing the gas tax to per mile as opposed to per gallon, so that you are taxed the same amount for buying 1 gallon of gas for a hybrid as what, 6 gallons for a Hummer? This is how much Americans love SUVs.
