I think the Insight has the best mileage, but do they even make it anymore? If not, I'd say the new Prius.

Anything that has a V10 option will be terrible. Ford's V10 makes good power but the mileage is just awful. The Diesel Excursions, however, get surprisingly good mileage and it is actually the high mileage figures posted by the Deisel version of the Excursion that kept Ford from giving it the axe. Seems that a lot of people are buying Diesel Excursions as tow vehicles because they get good mileage.Originally posted by: AgaBooga
Thanks nourdmrolNMT1! One question though, why isn't the gas mileage for the Excursion published anywhere? It's even says N/A on ford's site as well as edmunds
I found gas mileage from reviews of people who own it, but why doesn't ford publish the mileage values?
Ours gets 22 mpg. The old I6 Land Cruisers were well worse than that.Originally posted by: Syringer
Explorer with a V8 should be up there.
Nope. Because the Excursion is over 6000lbs it's classified as a truck, and therefore is subjected to different ratings. LEV for a truck still isn't very env-friendly.Originally posted by: Apex
Base excursion is about $37k I think. I was thinking this one too, until the price.
Perhaps a Durango (that thing got a hemi?).
Funny thing about SUV's these days though. Excursion is made from >80% recyclable parts, and is certified LEV (which means a tiny 1980 honda accord will put out more emissions in 1 mile than an Excursion will with 600 miles).

So: V10 Excursion = Gas hog. Diesel Excusion = Surprisingly good mileage.
