SUV owners, do you refer to your vehicle as a car, truck, or SUV? Read post before voting...

I was talking to someone at school and was going to show them a book. Then I realized that I left it in my car (GMC Envoy). I said something along the lines of "damn, I left it in the car." I was thinking about how pretentious it would sound if I had said "damn, I left it in my SUV."

Does anyone say "it's in my SUV" or whatever?

Depends upon usage. If I'm lazy I'll say car. If I'm actively referencing it, I'll say truck.

I never use SUV.

If I had one, I'd say "SUV". I like to piss off the hippies who say that I'm funding terrorism. :p

But since I don't have one, I'll say "results" to keep the poll fair.

Bed=truck
No bed=car

Other vehicles:
Bus, van, tractor, motorcycle.

Often I refer to my Dakota as a car because of the fact that I don't consider trucks really trucks unless they have an 8000LB GVWR.

When I don't think about it, I say "car" ... but when I refer to it purposely, I say "truck" ...

Here is my TRUCK. I don't care what it technically means, you asked a simple question and that's my answer.

Hmm... the more you say the word, the funnier it sounds... don't it ?

Jeep or car - depending upon the context. (The Grand Cherokee is very car like in the way it handles & drives - It is not built on a truck chassis like other SUV's as it features an unitary (monocoque) construction just like modern road cars.)

Hence, " My Jeep is not an SUV ....... Your SUV is not a Jeep"

heh, i wish my grand handled like a car, or like an SUV for that matter. At this point it handles like a semi. :(

I'd call it a truck if I owned one, but, I only own cars . I believe by EPA classifications, and SUV's are (in general) considered trucks. I'd say SUV but it is too many syllables. I wouldn't call it a car.

hehehe, reminds me of the time I bought a washer and dryer at Lowes. I was waiting at the front counter, when the sales guy came up to the front to tell me that he was going to get the units. I said I would go get my car. The lady at the counter about freaked! "What, you are going to put those in a car??" I started laughing... "No, I have a minivan to use..." She was relieved. If I had been thinking faster, I would have told her "yes, I brought my beamer Z3 with me... thought I'd just put the top down and strap them on..."

I call my Dodge Dakota a truck.
