SUV bashers - Why don't YOU own a Civic?

To anyone bashing SUV owners for owning something "impractical" when all they "need" is a Civic, why doesn't everyone here own a Civic? If you own a car that's on a higher ranking than say..an early 90's Civic as your daily driver, you have absolutely no merit to complain about SUV drivers driving what they do.

People who are into cars more or less driving the car they WANT, rather than "need"..if such a need exists.

Given that, it is absolutely hypocritical to bash an SUV owner for driving something they don't "need".

And if anyone needs something more than a Civic for room, then an SUV would be the answer to that.

End of argument.

I own a civic and an SUV. My work vehicles are a GMC Suburban that gets about 10 miles to the gallon with all the crap on it, and a Ford Crown Victoria that gets an average of 22. So there.

B/C they're hypocrites.

Hell, I bet those who have cars don't "USE" them like they're supposed to like they say that SUV users never go off-road. Maybe we should call them posers if their car isn't filled with 5 people at all times and doesn't have a trunk full of cargo loaded too.

The bottom line is they have nothing better to do than to bash what they don't like (or understand)😛

I did. And when we couldn't fit in it anymore, I got an Odyssey. 🙂

However, when I don't need the Odyssey anymore, I'm thinking nice little Mercedes convertable...

I don't necessarily bash all SUV drivers, I bash idiotic SUV drivers that are either morons or whiners.

And I do own a Honda Civic. 😛

I have two gas guzzlers. An Explorer and a Mustang. Both suck gas like they are giving blowjobs at a swinger's party.

i don't bash SUVs, i bash their short-sighted owners with the arguing skills of a 4 year old

6'4" so a Civic is too small. I do own a SAAB 9-5 that gets 31 mpg highway and 27-28 in mixed driving. It also has one of the lowest emission engines available (or so the European ratings say).

I wouldn't call myself an SUV basher, I just plain old don't like most SUV's because of my needs/wants. I like smaller more nimble sedans and sportier cars. I guess i just don't get the whole SUV trend. It doesn't seem like its any fun to drive. I drove my friends Jeep Grand Cherokee and it was just big and boring. _I_ think SUV's are impractical for most people, but if you benefit from them and like them, then who am I to stop you or bash you for driving one?

Do I really need a sports car? Of course not, but they sure as hell are fun to drive. The same goes for SUV drivers IMO.

Because my 240sx weighs the same as a Civic, is lower than a Civic, and therefore no more dangerous or harmfun? You don't seem to understand the difference between having something you don't need and having something you don't need that harms others.

I drive an 87 Mazda 626.

And if anyone needs something more than a Civic for room, then an SUV would be the answer to that.

So an SUV is the only answer if you need something bigger than a Civic? You think people buy SUVs for room? 😕 People buy SUVs because their friends have SUVs.....

Yet it is slow and unreliable. Next?

I am an avid SUV basher, I do own a Civic and I do try and get people to carpool with me as often as possible. I really am against gas guzzlers. I mean, isn't that why muscle cars died off because of the gas crisis in the 1970's?

What irks me is the lack of interest from American car makers to engineer a practical alternative to gasoline powered engines. I guess as long as people buy vehicles that get 9 MPG, why bother. I understand Hydrogen is being researched but why did we wait so long? I really wish we as a country could be more self-sufficient in this respect.

And yes, as soon as I can afford it I would like to get a Honda Insight.
